A: posterity.video is a video production company that specializes in professional-quality video recordings of oral histories.
Q: How does it work?
A: I come to your location with all the necessary equipment. It is not an interview so much as a conversation in which essentially the entire life is covered, although not necessarily in chronological order. As in any conversation, often one topic leads to another, and I have found that this is where what’s important to each individual will reveal itself.
Q: Do I need to prepare anything?
A: It is not required but it helps if I have as much information about a subject as possible. However, even without knowing any background, my experience has been that once someone starts talking, the memories come readily with minimal prompting. If there's anything specific that you would like to cover, you can let me know so I will make sure that it isn't forgotten.
Q: How long does it take?
A: Average sessions last between two and four hours.
Q: Why should I pay you so much money when I can do it on my iPhone?
A: Because I'm a professional, and it will look and sound that way. As with any lifecycle event, these histories should be preserved at best quality.
Q: How long until I receive the finished video?
A: Average turnaround time for delivery on flash drive is two to three months.
